Our Sourcing Philosophy

Golden Shilajit raw material is sourced from high-altitude locations in the Pakistani Himalayas — specifically the Gilgit-Baltistan region. This page explains where we source, why we source from this region, and how we approach traceability and supply chain documentation.

Where We Source

Raw Shilajit is sourced from verified high-altitude collection sites in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan, in the Himalayan and Karakoram mountain ranges. Collection sites are at elevations above 3,000 metres. Every batch comes with collection site records, altitude documentation, and seasonal harvest information.

Gilgit-Baltistan is remote, largely free from industrial activity, and at an altitude that reduces baseline contamination risk from agricultural runoff and industrial pollution. This is a practical reason for sourcing from this specific region.

Why Source Matters for Shilajit

Not all Shilajit is equivalent. The composition of raw Shilajit varies with altitude, geography, rock strata, and seasonal conditions. Material collected at lower elevations, from different geological formations, or through anonymous brokers is not the same as verified high-altitude Pakistani Himalayan material.

We source from one region because we understand that region’s material characteristics. We do not blend material from multiple unverified sources to meet demand.

Our Sourcing Approach

We work with established collector relationships in the Gilgit-Baltistan region. Raw material is assessed on arrival before any processing begins. Material that does not pass our intake assessment is rejected.

We do not currently hold formal fair-trade, ethical-trade or environmental certification for our sourcing operations. Where we can provide specific, documentable information about our supply chain, we do. Where we cannot, we do not make claims we are unable to substantiate.

Our quality documentation covers the purified, finished product through independent laboratory testing. Sourcing documentation covers origin and chain of custody prior to purification. These are separate but complementary parts of our transparency record.

From Source to Purification

Raw material sourcing and product purification are separate stages. Once assessed raw material leaves the sourcing stage, it enters our water-based multi-stage purification process. For a full explanation of what happens in purification, see: Our Manufacturing Philosophy.

Testing Documentation

Sourcing and laboratory testing are separate parts of the quality process. Independent laboratory testing documents the composition of the purified product on a batch-specific basis:
